Information and Communication Technology is of increasing importance in the modern world. This means that all children need to have the opportunity to develop their understanding of, and skills in, ICT throughout their school lives so as to support their learning and so that they are fully equipped for the technological demands that they will continue to meet as they grow older.

ICT has proved to be an exciting medium for teaching and learning providing improved motivation and sense of purpose as well as being a focus for the development of Information handling and study skills.

Teachers should be concerned with providing children with the basic experiences and skills necessary to develop ICT CAPABILITY (i.e. the ability of the child to know when and how to use ICT appropriately.)

In the WWW there is access to a vast range of information. All children will need to experience using this store of information and understand how to access this successfully.
