1WH spent Tuesday afternoon exploring the local allotments at Boundary Way. The exciting event was hosted by Wolves Play Cafe and we had a fabulous time. We were greeted by Helen and Lisa, who introduced us to the wonderful story "A good place" by Lucy Cousins. It was all about our minibeast friends looking for the perfect habitats to make their homes. Afterwards, we gave them a hand by creating our own bug hotels. We even moved in some willing residents! We discovered which creatures make their homes in water, when we did a pond dip. We also used our artistic skills by learning how we can get colour from natural things like petals and leaves. We used the hapa zome technique to create beautiful butterflies. We also got the chance to engage in free play in the mud kitchen, building, music and natural art areas. We had such a brilliant but exhausting day!
