Child Care Provision for Key Workers - important info!
I’m sure you are aware of the government decision to close all schools on Monday 23rd March until further notice.
Do not send your child to school on Monday unless you are one of the few families who have been informed that there is a place for your child / children.
We are trying to make arrangements both for next week and in the longer term to provide care for those children identified by the Government as children of ‘key workers’ or ‘Vulnerable’ children.
At the moment we only have capacity for children who have both parents as keyworkers with no safe childcare or a single parent with no safe childcare. If you are a key worker, but your partner or another adult in the house is not, they will have to care for your child at home. These plans may alter depending upon availability of staff in school.
Please don’t be offended when we ask for proof of your place of work and hours of employment – this is to help us to have a clear and accurate picture of the provision needed now and in future weeks. We will then use this information to offer places based on our capacity. It may mean that we have to prioritise according to need.
Only pupils with an offer of a place should attend school for the foreseeable future.
If you think that your child is eligible to come into school next week, you will need to fill in an application form and provide evidence, you can do this at the school office. We will be in touch as soon as we can to confirm provision based on our capacity, please bear in mind this may not be from Monday. An example of supporting evidence could be a salary slip from the last two months or a current photo ID card, evidence of shift patterns.
Pupils with an EHCP or who have a social worker may also be able to come to school. We know who these children are and will contact parents individually. Once again provision will be based on schools capacity.
Next week, school will be open at normal times for children who are allowed to come to school. For those pupils who are allowed to come to school ACES will provide Breakfast and After school Club if there is sufficient need.
All children who are eligible to come to school on Monday must be accompanied by an adult and come to the main office to register.
These plans may then be altered, depending on further information from the Government or the Local Authority. Provision will also depend on available staffing in school.
We are still waiting for information from the Local Authority about how we can support pupils eligible for Free School Meals – we will get that information to you as soon as we can.
Thank you as ever for your support - these are the strangest of times. We are doing our very best for the children of Springdale, and will continue to do so.
Your support really helps.
Look after yourselves, and each other.
